Intermediate Mining Engineer

NES is helping Our Client’s team of professionals who provideConsulting, Design Engineering and EPCM services to the minerals industry.  We are seeking a full-time permanent IntermediateMining Engineer, with experience in mining operations to join the Sudbury,Ontario office and will work with both local and global staff on a range of consulting, laboratory and design engineering projects.


Our Client’s business prides itself on the technical and commercial excellence in project delivery. We deliver solutions to our clients in the core field of mining and mine waste management, with a focus on mine optimization using backfill as a primary tool (hydraulic, paste, CRF)integrated with state-of-the-art mine waste management (thickened tailings, paste, filter cake that can incorporate mine waste rock management concepts).


The successful candidate will ideally have an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, while having a strategic aptitude in developing concepts that will be presented to planners up to senior executive/corporate level client(s). Projects will range from concept al through to detailed process design for backfill and tailings disposal projects.The role also requires technical direction to project engineers and mentoring of junior engineering staff.


The candidate must have:


·     Mining Engineering degree or appropriate equivalent;

·     Possess Professional Engineer status or the equivalent;

·     Experience operating at a Chief Mining Engineer level

·     At least 10 – 15 years operational/engineering combined experience.

·     Experience in a range of mining operations and mining methods, mine design (short and long term planning, rock mechanics, ventilation, etc), including experience in operational, technical and managerial roles;

·     Ability to conduct economic valuation of mine design, logistics, trade-off studies, cash flows, etc

·     Ability to manage technical work to meet scope, time and budget;

·     Proficiency in writing and reviewing of proposals and project reports;

·     Competency in MS Office software ACAD/Deswick software;

·     Ability and willingness to travel to mine sites, nationally and internationally (for short durations, infrequently);

·     Comprehensive understanding of the delivery of excellence in health, safety, environment, and community sustainability.

·     Previous exposure to mineral processing would be an asset;

·     Experience with backfill mining applications and design;

·     Experience with surface tailings processes and operation;
