Material Coordinator

The Material Coordinator is responsible to ensure that effective and efficient material control practices and processes are in place, aligning parts and materials with the execution of maintenance activities for the Maintenance department and act as a liaison and technical representative between the maintenance and procurement teams.

Requirements

Accountabilities:

  • Requisition parts and materials for both urgent and planned tasks.
  • Work closely with Procurement to prepare job kits for service and planned repairs.
  • Attend maintenance meeting routines to align material and parts availability with future schedules.
  • Assist procurement personnel with parts and repairable item identification.
  • Along with maintenance staff, assist procurement personnel on repair and procurement strategies.
  • Monitor consumable material inventory to ensure adequate availability.
  • Initiate new stores request for high volume or long lead material; advise of required changes to min/max levels.
  • Collaborate with Procurement in the evaluation and selection of suppliers.
  • Maintain a high commitment to personal safety and integrity of the environment and equipment
  • during the planning of work orders.
  • Follow the guidelines in the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Meet or exceed expected performance as set by management.
  • Work without risk for self and others.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Exercise consistent discretion and judgment in job performance.

Qualifications

Education:

Red Seal Interprovincial Journey person, Technician or Technologist Certification an asset;


Heavy Equipment Technician Journey person Red Seal, Mechanical Journey person Red Seal or

Electrical Journey person Red Seal preferred

Experience:

- A combination of the following experience is considered an asset Proficient in SAP

-Direct dealings with contract services and manufacturer representatives
-Exposure within a Mobile equipment repair shop, Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing discipline


• An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication (written and oral), as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge in mechanical, pumps, piping, valves and rotating equipment an asset.
  • Technical aptitude and/or practical experience

Travel & Accommodations:

All travel to and from the site will be coordinated by the company NES. Our client’s charter will pick up theemployee, at defined locations within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, at no cost.Accommodations and meals will be provided by the company while on the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.

Location
The position is based in Voisey’s Bay, the shift schedule is 2 weeks in 2 weeks out, working 12hrdays. The place of work will be Voisey’s Bay Site in Labrador, as a fly-in / fly-out operation, allemployees will be flown to/from designated pick-up / drop-off points in Newfoundland andLabrador on VNL’s chartered service to site at no cost to them.
