Mining Engineer-Project Manager-Senior

  • Provide mining engineering and design services for underground mine studies, such as scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design, and NI 43-101 technical reports
  • Coordinate mining engineering projects with the mining team and other engineering disciplines, such as electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, etc.
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of mining engineering drawings
  • Prepare mining equipment specifications and assist with mining equipment procurement
  • Prepare CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates
  • Manage the mining component of large projects
  • Design mine infrastructures, ventilation systems, backfill systems and mining services
  • Schedule staff assignments within the department
  • Collaborate with other offices for project and task assignments
  • Mentor mining engineering staff
  • Actively supporting business development activities through participation in conferences, direct business development activities and strategic client relationship management
  • Prepare and contribute to proposals and assist with business development process
  • Author and contribute to study reports
  • Manage the execution of multiple, concurrent studies/projects to meet the agreed objectives
  • Maintain consistent delivery of high-quality technical studies (active planning, coordinating and managing)
  • Lead marketing and business development for the mining sector by seeking out new opportunities through networking, referrals and market research
  • Develop a healthy opportunity pipeline for study work in the region
  • Manage study resource levels and ensure that staffing requirements are communicated
  • Provide specialist technical input, leadership and management for projects

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering from a recognized University
  • Minimum of 20 years of underground mining experience in operations, engineering and/or project evaluation
  • Member of PEO or the possibility to become a member of a professional association for engineers
  • Previously worked as study manager, area manager or engineering manager and project manager
  • Functional proficiency with underground mining design and planning software packages such as Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac, or Minesight
  • Operational experience with underground mining, cut & fill, bulk mining (VRM), sub-level block caving and block caving
  • Experience in mine equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates
  • Understanding of the various components required to make a mine a successful operation (processing, tailings, infrastructure)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and oral
  • Asset: Functionable in a second language (French or Spanish)
  • A willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Good understanding of NI 43-101, JORC and SK 1300 technical reports
