Procurement Analyst

The Procurement Analyst is responsible to execute the procurement of materials, equipment and services for operations, aiming to assure the supply of items for business continuity, at the lowest total cost of ownership possible, achieving industry best practice standards of delivery time and quality of products and services.

Requirements

  • Meet the requirements of our internal customers in accordance with established  procurement goals, policies and procedures;
  • Assure availability of goods and services through the adherence to existing agreements and, when necessary, contract amendments or renewal;
  • Work with team members and other stakeholders to develop sourcing plans;
  • Prepare RFP packages and carry out sourcing in accordance with industry best practices using e-marketplace tools;
  • Analyze the  submitted proposals from a commercial perspective and negotiate contract terms and conditions which are favourable to and seek to reduce the     company’s risk exposure;
  • Formulate award recommendations and facilitate approval;
  • Create appropriate agreement type with good understanding of the scope of work and commercial structure;
  • Oversee vendor management process throughout the life of the contract, ensuring  compliance and performance;
  • Represent Procurement Organization in meetings with a variety of internal and  external customers;
  • Administer all  jobs, contracts and related documentation with due diligence and integrity;
  • Create, develop and control reports, research and other administrative activities;
  • Carry out basic needs analysis, identify opportunities, develop, and implement strategies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • An Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma within Business or Engineering.
  • Certification in a professional association (P. Eng., SCMA) an asset.
  • 3+ years’  experience related to procurement
  • Experience from mining, petrochemical or heavy manufacturing industry is preferred;
  • SAP experience an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Knowledge & Skills 

  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles and processes, Canadian contract law, commercial terms and supporting business systems and tools;
  • Understand RFP processes, protocols and industry best practices;
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in the use of analytical tools such as MS Excel, pivot tables, VLOOKUP;
  • Strong understanding of Category Management concepts and the ability to take ownership of assigned commodities and categories;
  • Strong relationship management skills, both with internal clients and suppliers;
  • Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
  • High-performing, innovative, and collaborative team player;

Location
: Remote with 3 days located at a Vale Headquarters, located in either Thompson- MB, Toronto- ON , St. John’s-NL with potential travel to site as required.
