Senior Mining Engineer Consultant

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer Consultant, who

brings strong technical, people, management and Client relationship skills to join our

Client’s Firm. This is a full time permanent opportunity located in Sudbury, Ontario.

Our Client is a Global mining consulting firm established 17 years ago and is

expanding into Canada.Some of the services include but are not limited to geological

modelling and interpretation, mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, industrial

engineering, project & risk management as well as project and operational support.

Responsibilities:

Technical Duties & Responsibilities include:

60%-70% time allocation (~ 120 - 140 hours per month)

• Performing technical mining engineering tasks and outputs on an expert level

• Periodic travel to client sites to perform project work

• Sourcing geological information and converting it into mining models

• Strategic mine design, scheduling, and reporting in various project phases

• Mining-related inputs for financial modelling

• Pit/stope optimization

• Building service offering toolkits and competency

• Equipment studies

• Lead and own projects + multiple project involvement

• Operating cost models

• Technical report and CPR compilation

• Trade-off studies / Options analysis

• Cut-off grade analysis

• Due Diligence studies and technical audits

Management, Client relationship/ Business Development Responsibilities

30%-40% time allocation (~ 60 - 80 hours per month)

• Networking, business development and sales

• Line Management duties of in-country mining engineers

• Project management of North American projects• Mining networking event attendance in local, provincial or national areas (e.g. PDAC, CIM networking event, Mining4Beer event)

• Ad-hoc site visits to potential clients to view their operations

• Compiling of scopes of work for North American clients requiring Mining Engineering work

• Client management (via Projects) to ensure repeat business / winning more work and building high quality

• To grow our footprint and reach in North America

Requirements:

• Mining Engineering degree graduated from Canadian University

• More than 10 years of mining engineering experience

• Mandatory: relevant operations mining (>5 years) and mine planning/consulting experience (>5 years)

• Preferred: management experience; networking skills, Professional registration

• Beneficial: having both Open Pit and Underground experience; Business Development / sales experience, proposal writing experience

Additional Skills:

• Short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning

• Pit / Stope optimisation

• Open pit and underground mine designs and production scheduling

• Experience of various mining methods

• Knowledge of the entire mining value chain for 3 to 5 commodities

• Compliance code exposure (JORC, NI 43-101 and S-K 1300)

• Experience with delivering high quality project documentation (Preliminary Economic Assessments, Concept Study, Pre-Feasibility Study, Feasibility Study,

Due Diligence, Competent Persons Reports, Mine Permitting Applications)

• To fully utilize available mining engineering specialist software packages (i.e. Deswik (preferable), GEOVIA Surpac, GEOVIA MineSched)

• Project reporting and presentations
