Your Role as Electrical Engineer (Mine Hoist)

Reporting to the Supervisor of Mine Hoist Electrical Engineering Services, you will be part of a highly specialized team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Designers within the Mine Hoist Division—, a globally recognized leader in mine hoist engineering.

In this role, you will contribute to the engineering of electrical components of mine hoisting systems. You will independently perform calculations, support the development of mechanical designs, and lead small-to-medium scale projects. Your work will include developing engineering deliverables, conducting site visits for inspections and data collection, and supporting project coordination across multiple active engagements.

This position offers exposure to complex engineering tasks and provides opportunities to apply and expand your knowledge of mechanical systems in mining operations. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning are essential to your success in this role.

Your Key Accountabilities

• Technical and Documentation

o Independently prepares and verifies moderate to complex technical calculations.

o In collaboration with internal and external multidisciplinary subject matter experts, performs and finalizes detailed designs and technical drawings, as per applicable codes, regulations and client standards.

o Conduct site visits for data collection, lead assessments and to provide recommendations for remedial action.

o Leads QAQC (quality assurance quality control) checks as required.

o Contributes to the preparation of project documentation and technical report development.

• Business Development and Client Management

o Identifies and pursues new business opportunities.

o Lead in the preparation and presentation of single discipline proposals.

o Manages client communications including regular updates, contract negotiation, and documentation.

o Addresses and provides resolutions for client concerns.

o Maintain records of client interactions and project updates.

• Project Coordination and Management

o Leads small project teams, ensuring project delivery meets scopes, schedules, budget, and quality requirements.

o Provides oversight in planning and execution of projects.

o Manages project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.  

o Coordinates and supports the project team, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.

• Professional Development

o Participates in training and certification programs, as required.

o Attends relevant industry workshops and seminars, as required.

o Engage in learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of related experience, though less may be considered.

• A degree in electrical engineering is required.

• Registered with PEO, and holds a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng), or equivalent in Canada. Engineering trainee may be considered.

• Knowledge of industry best practices, codes, and regulations is required.

• Familiarity with Autodesk drafting and design software tools.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.

• Intermediate project management skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high quality work.

• Valid Drivers License required.

• Valid Passport required, with the ability to travel in North America.

Working Conditions

• Travel to client sites, throughout North America is required up to 25% of time to attend meetings and to conduct field visits.

• Work is primarily performed in a regular office environment.

Total Compensation

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $128,750 CAD per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications; their placement within our internal compensation structure; and relevant geographic cost of living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role.
