Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT)

​​Reporting to the Supervisor of Electrical Engineering Services the Electrical EIT (Engineering Intern) will be working under the guidance and supervision of senior engineers. The successful candidate will work closely with electrical designers and electrical engineers while performing entry-level engineering work on small and large-scale projects.  You will also execute, coordinate and expedite a succession of different engineering activities as part of capital expenditure projects.​

Technical and Documentation  

  • Assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems (e.g., power distribution, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, grounding/bonding, lighting layouts, and cable schedules) under senior supervision, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys, and assessments to gather data for project designs.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform basic load calculations, and equipment selection for electrical systems.
  • Support troubleshooting and provide technical solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Support QA/QC (quality assurance quality control) checks as directed.  
  • Project Coordination and Client Management
  • Participate in client meetings to gather technical requirements, providing insights and solutions as needed.
  • Foster relationships with clients by delivering quality work, maintaining professionalism, and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist project managers in tracking project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Contribute to progress reports, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
  • Support the review of project milestones and provide input to improve efficiency.
  • Provides administrative support to project teams.

Professional Development

  • Participates in training and certification programs, as required.
  • Attends relevant industry workshops and seminars, as required.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills.

  • ​​Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechatronics engineering, or equivalent is required.  
  • ​Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • ​Familiarity with MicroStation is considered an asset.
  • ​Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.  
  • ​Strong analytical skills.
  • ​Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ​Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • ​Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a regular office environment.
  • Travel to client sites is required on occasion to attend meetings and to conduct field visits.
