Intermediate Power Systems Engineer
Your Role as Intermediate Electrical Engineer
Reporting to the Manager of Power Systems Engineering Services, the Intermediate Electrical Engineer is responsible for independently performing complex calculations, code reviews, drafting designs, and leading large projects, as well as providing final reviews for drawings and design packages from 600V to 230kV voltage levels. You will develop engineering deliverables and lead site visits and inspections to review engineering systems as required. This role involves overseeing the technical accuracy of project components, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and contributing to the development of specialized areas within the company. They are also responsible for mentoring and coaching junior staff and supporting the growth of the engineering team.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a regular office environment.
- Travel to client sites is required on occasion to attend meetings and to conduct field visits.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Technical and Documentation
- Leads the preparation and review of complex technical calculations.
- Prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, single lines, three lines, AC and DC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
- Oversees, reviews, approves, performs and finalizes detailed designs and technical drawings, including CT selection, relay wiring design and protection parameter selection as per applicable codes, regulations and client standards.
- Leads site visits for data collection, and assessments and to provide recommendations for remedial action. Ensures that build quality is as per design.
- Leads and provides oversight for QAQC (quality assurance quality control) checks as required.
- Completes and reviews project documentation and technical report development.
- Assigns, outlines and prioritizes work for engineers or technologists according to project demands.

Qualifications
- 7+ years of related low/medium/high voltage power distribution experience is required
- A degree in electrical engineering is required.
- Registered with PEO, and holds a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng), or equivalent in Canada.
- Substation design experience considered an asset.
- Pole Line design experience considered an asset.
- Familiarity with power systems including power systems studies (load flow and protective device coordination using Easypower, SKM and ETAP), project scopes, project schedules and deliverables.
- Strong industrial experience, with experience in surface and underground mining.
- Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices.
- Valid Drivers License.
