Inventory Control Specialist
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for administering the governance of the inventory management systems and processes supporting the purchase and stocking of all essential materials, consumables and spare parts.
The role includes tracking stock levels, ensuring timely procurement and distribution, maintaining accurate records, and preventing stock shortages or excess stock holdings. The role will collaborate with various key stakeholder department representatives to ensure efficient supply chain management and cost control, while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
The rate of pay is $40/hr with overtime after 40 hours per week.
The schedule is flexible - once trained the successful candidate could potentially work a hybrid role one week on site and one week working from home. If they live close to site it would be 5 days a week. Training would be done Monday to Friday on site.
- Responsible for the effective implementation and governance of the Inventory Management Plan. Collect feedback from site teams regarding inventory processes and incorporate into proposals for workflow improvements to the Superintendent Supply Chain and Commercial Manager.
- Responsible for the creation, extension, and regular updating of inventory item data in the inventory control system to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data within this system, including but not limited to, adjustment of inventory holding levels, part number modifications, adjustments to inventory item classifications and criticality, and supplier details.
- Establish effective processes for tracking and reporting of inventory item status, usage trends, and stock turnover rates for management review. Ensure inventory items classified as Critical are in stock and available, are stored and maintenance processes undertaken in accordance with the Inventory Management Plan.
- Complete recurring assessments of Inventory item obsolescence, including facilitating stakeholder engagement for review of items identified as at risk of obsolete for the appropriate and approved determination of inventory items as obsolete.
- Investigate issues such as stockouts, delivery delays, or overstocking, and develop solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Identify inefficiencies in inventory processes and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Provide all Month End Reporting requirements as determined by the Superintendent Finance and Superintendent Supply Chain.
- In the event of a supply chain or production disruption or emergency, participate in the coordination of the rapid procurement and delivery of Critical consumables and/or spare parts items to mitigate any disruption to operations.
- In collaboration with the Superintendent Supply Chain, undertake periodic reviews of the inventory items stored within the warehouse locations to ensure all items are stored in an organized manner to maximize space, facilitate ease of access, and maintain acceptable safety standards within the warehouse storage facilities.
- Provide inventory material item usage data and pricing for Budgeting, GRI and NPRI, or any other reporting purposes as requested.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent - Supply Chain and Commercial Manager.
- University degree in business administration or equivalent and SCMP Designation
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Supply Chain
- At least 5 years in a leadership role
- Advanced competency in use of ERP systems (Pronto)
- Advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint knowledge
