Junior Automation Specialist
Your Role as Junior Automation Specialist
Reporting to the Supervisor of Automation Engineering Services the Junior Automation Specialist will be working under the guidance and supervision of senior engineers. The successful candidate will work closely with Automation designers and Automation engineers while performing entry-level engineering work on small and large-scale projects; including programming (PLC/DCS/HMI), design, and commissioning activities. You will also execute, coordinate and expedite a succession of different engineering activities as part of capital expenditure projects.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a regular office environment.
- Travel to client sites is required on occasion to attend meetings and to conduct field visits.
Technical and Documentation
- Assist in the design, programming, analysis, and implementation of Automation systems, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Conduct site visits for commissioning, inspections, surveys, and assessments to gather data for project designs.
- Prepare technical drawings, programming (PLC/DCS/HMI) specifications, and reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Perform basic calculations, and equipment selection for Automation systems.
- Support troubleshooting and provide technical solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Support QAQC (quality assurance quality control) checks as directed.
- Project Coordination and Client Management
- Participate in client meetings to gather technical requirements, providing insights and solutions as needed.
- Foster relationships with clients by delivering quality work, maintaining professionalism, and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Assist project managers in tracking project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to progress reports, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
- Support the review of project milestones and provide input to improve efficiency.
- Provides administrative support to project teams.
Professional Development
- Participates in training and certification programs, as required.
- Attends relevant industry workshops and seminars, as required.
- Engage in learning opportunities to develop technical and professional skills.
- A 3-Year Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechatronics engineering, or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 6-Months experience in Automation Engineering is required.
- Familiarity with automation technology and products including new and legacy PLC and SCADA systems is considered a strong asset. Technology including, but not limited to:

- RS Logix 5000 and/or Studio 5000
- Factory Talk Design Studio
- Foxboro Galaxy
- Foxboro FoxDraw
- Emerson Delta V
- PI historian
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Salary
$70,000.00 - $95,000.00
