Material Handler - Permanent Full Time (Mining Manufacturing)- Afternoon Shift
Job Summary: Material Handler
Material Handlers receive and record the movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock to and from the manufacturing facility.
Schedule – Monday to Friday 3:30pm – 12:00am
Pay range - $23.15 - $27.35/hour plus $1.00/ hour shift premium
Key Responsibilities:
• Determine method of shipment and prepare bills, invoices and other shipping documents
• Assemble containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped, and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.
• Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks, etc.
• Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
• Unpack and route goods to appropriate storage areas.
• Maintain internal record-keeping systems.
• May operate a forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
• Know safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.
• Know proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
• Communicate with machine operators and production staff to coordinate material flow, confirm bundle counts and ensure equipment is available for shipping and production needs.
• Stage materials for production based on work orders or production schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following housekeeping and safety standards.
• Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory checks as needed.
Requirements:
• Forklift experience an asset
• Experience in manufacturing or related field is preferred
• Work requires moderate physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity.
• The employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch.
• Employees may lift, lower, carry products up to approximately S0+pounds by hand.
• High levels of organization and attention to detail must be accurate in all job tasks.
• Math, reading and writing skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment, make independent decisions and manage time to
succeed in a fast-paced environment forklift experience
Preferred Qualifications:
ï Certifications such as forklift operator certification or materials handling certification may be necessary or beneficial.
ï Understanding of shipping and receiving procedures, including packing, labeling, and documentation requirements.
ï Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards, such as hazardous materials handling or international shipping regulations.
ï Familiarity with inventory control principles, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and inventory reconciliation.
ï Knowledge of transportation regulations such as WHMIS, TOG, and international shipping requirements.
ï Experience using warehouse or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
