Welder / Fitters - Heavy Fab/Platework

Our client ia a CWB certified steel fabrication company that has been providing quality steel products to industrial locations since 1989.  They are expanding their shop and as a result of this exciting growth, are hiring (4) experienced Fitter/Welders. They provide liner and wear products, mine and tunnel ventilation, wear plate processing, industrial piping, chutes and general fabrication services to industrial areas including numerous mining, forestry and civil projects. They are located in the Val Caron industrial park and offer 2 shifts to choose from.  This is not rotational you will work one steady shift:

• Monday to Friday 6:45am to 3:15pm (2 welders)

• Monday to Thursday 3:30pm - 2:00am (2 welders)

Key Responsibilities:

• Read, understand and execute fabrication instructions as illustrated on work orders, diagrams, drawing and company standards.

• Manually weld maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle to achieve weld profiles in adherence to welding procedures specifications and Canadian Welding Bureau Standards.

• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.

• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes following certified welding procedure specifications.

• Prepares broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces using air carbon arc or oxy-fuel gouging and grinding.

• Cuts and prepares work pieces using oxy-fuel cutting and or grinding.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 20 years plus experience

• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings – know your weld symbols and how to read a drawing to build from start to finish

• Measurements – reading a tape measure and taking accurate measurements when fitting

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
